First, a big thank you to everyone who came out to Tuesday night's Northcrest Civic Association Annual Meeting.  We had a very informative session with DeKalb Police and received updates on everything that is going on around our 'hood from our NCA Committee Chairs.  I was especially excited to see pictures of the new school!  It isn't MCM, but we can't win them all now can we? HENDERSON MIDDLE SCHOOLLAKESIDE HIGH SCHOOL Neighbors: You may be aware of the efforts underway by DeKalb Schools to resolve overcrowding of schools in north DeKalb. The initiative is under the heading “Secondary School Study”. The county expects to fund changes to our schools in the recently passed ESPLOST V, and to publish their expected project list late this year. Opportunity to influence this process is now. On Thursday, July 14, Jim Taylor and Chuck Hunt, representing the Northcrest Civic Assn. (NCA) board, met at Pleasantdale with county construction and planning staff, Principal Brown and other school staff and neighbors for an update. We were given an overview of the architectural drawings and plans, and a brief update on progress.School administration explained the primary “next step,” upon which any further progress hinges, is to negotiate and complete a land sale and use agreement with the County for portions of Pleasantdale Park.
