Community Affairs Pleasantdale Elementary School


Neighbors are urged to attend a public meeting on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 5:30 PM at Pleasantdale Elementary School for an update on plans for the new school. The meeting is called by DeKalb Parks, Recreation and Cultural affairs and will focus primarily on issue of the sale of a portion of Pleasantdale Park to DeKalb Schools. The meeting will provide the opportunity for the public to comment on the sale and plans for the park property. The site plan developed in support of this land sale is included with this notice.

The Northcrest Civic Association has been following this project for the past two years, including frequent contact Principal Terri Brown and with the DeKalb Schools Operations Director overseeing the project. We have met and provided comment on the development plan. It is our understanding that following the public meeting, the sales agreement between the County (Board of Commissioners) and the School District will go forward and construction can finally begin.  The civic association has placed a board member on the Citizen's Oversight Committee for school construction, and will continue to track and update the neighborhood on the progress of the project and its impact on our neighborhood.
